Meet Our Team
Dr. Hanich grew up in Missoula, and even as a kid, spent a lot of time at the Animal Clinic. His father, Herb Hanich owned the practice before him. Dr. Greg went to highschool at Big Sky, starting the year it opened in 1980. He attended the University of Montana for his undergraduate studies and went to veterinary school at Colorado State University where he graduated in 1994. His professional interests include small animal internal medicine, surgery, and ophthalmology. Dr. Hanich enjoys backpacking, rafting, sports of all kinds, and especially fishing. He feels fortunate to be able to live, work, and raise his family in such a great community.
Dr. Duncan is a Montana native who grew up on a cattle ranch on the highline of north central Montana. He received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1984, and practiced in Northwestern Montana for 17 years. In 2001, he sold his practice and moved to Missoula to concentrate on small animal medicine and surgery. He is one of the founding veterinarians of Missoula’s Pet Emergency Center. Since 2004 his primary duty is as an associate veterinarian at Animal Clinic. Dr. Duncan’s areas of special interest include orthopedic surgery and dentistry. He is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association and Montana Veterinary Medical Association. Away from veterinary medicine, Dr. Duncan enjoys hiking, hunting, and fishing with his family.
Dr. Harwell joined the Missoula community after graduating with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2024. Before vet school, she completed her undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her favorite thing about veterinary medicine is the opportunity to form lifelong bonds with people and their pets. In her free time, Dr. Harwell enjoys hiking, fishing, and hunting with her husband, Chad, and their 2 dogs: a German shorthaired pointer named Ruddy and golden retriever named Lola. She also enjoys spending time cuddling with her sweet kitty, Goose.
Dr. Lena (Terry) Blackhurst is a Kalispell, MT native that graduated from Flathead High School. She pursued her undergraduate studies in Wildlife Biology at Montana State University before attending veterinary school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Dr. Terry’s veterinary interests include urgent care, internal medicine, radiology, and pain management. She values a stress-free, gentle approach with her patients. She started practicing at the Animal Clinic Missoula in June 2024. Outside of work, Lena enjoys skiing, mountain biking, running, and hiking. She lives with her husband Riley, cat Sam, golden retriever Finnegan, and golden mix Zoey here in Missoula.
Diane got her start in Vet Med at the ASPCA in New York City after graduating from Tulane University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology in 1995. She worked in Missoula as a veterinary technician for 25 years before becoming the Practice Manager at Animal Clinic. Diane and her husband have two adult children, a chocolate lab known as Hoyt and a Doodle by the name of Beeker. Her extra time (what is that?) is spent reading, camping and hiking.
Hannah grew up in Helena, Montana and moved to Missoula in 2021. She graduated from the College of Southern Idaho in 2017 where she received an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She joined Animal Clinic in 2021 as an LVT and enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and being a mom to her two cats and chinchillas.
Hailey was born and raised in Dillon, Montana, and grew up surrounded by furry friends. She knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She attended PIMA Medical Institute in Dillon and completed the veterinary technician program in November of 2022, then moved to Missoula and began working at Animal Clinic. She completed her certification and became a licensed veterinary technician in 2023. In her free time she enjoys reading, cuddling her cat Thistle and exploring with her dog Baloo.
Avery has been an employee at Animal Clinic since 2015. Originally from the swamps of Florida, she spent her early years wrasslin’ gators and fighting hurricanes. She lives with her husband, 2 dogs and a terrorist that the humane society mislabeled as a cat. She hopes to one day move into a cottage in the forest, where she can pretend to be a witch, growing her own herbs for potions and scaring children who wander off the beaten path. Until that time she will continue on her current path of achieving licensure as a veterinary technician
Ashley is the Lead LVT at Animal Clinic. Her passion for animals is what led her to a career in Vet Med. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute in Dillon in 2017. As a Missoula native, she loves adventures with her husband and their two children (anxiously awaiting the third). They enjoy traveling, camping, fishing, side by side riding, floating the river and Grizzly football. When she is not busy juggling motherhood and her beloved career, she is tending to her small farm which includes miniature goats, horses and dogs of all sizes, cats, and chickens as well!
Ashley was born in Spokane, Washington although she grew up here in Missoula. She began her career in Vet Med at Animal Clinic in 2019 as a kennel technician. She has since become a veterinary assistant and is currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program to receive her LVT.
Nathan is originally from upstate New York. He received his B.S. in Wildlife Biology here at the University of Montana. His goal is to attend Vet School but until that time he is doing all that is asked of him and more here at Animal Clinic.
Mo is a longtime Missoula resident who has worked as a customer service representative at Animal Clinic since 2017. Mo wants to help make your experience at Animal Clinic a positive one, even when difficult circumstances arise. When Mo isn't answering phones behind a desk, you will find her enjoying time with her family and two boxers, or listening to true crime podcasts.
Ariana is originally from New York, but has lived in Montana for most of her life. Her passion for animals has existed since she was three. She and her family have a grumble of pugs, multiple cats, ducks, a hamster and they welcome the addition of many more. In her free time, she renovates her van and enjoys time with her family.
Brexi, a Dayton, Ohio native, recently moved to Montana to tap into her adventurous side. Although she enjoys being home and playing video games, she and her special needs dog "Ghost" (aka "Piggy"), are busy learning and exploring the Bitterroot. Here at Animal Clinic you will most likely see her assisting the doctors in exam rooms.
